When we trace back in history (“her-story”), we discover that in so-called “primitive” cultures a woman’s time of menses was honored as sacred and powerful. Tribal women didn’t resist their natural cycles, but rather they would behold their “periods” as a visionary time of deep introspection, healing, and communion with Spirit and Nature. Menses was a time for women to pierce through the veils of unconsciousness, and to reveal love as a healing illumination for the benefit of the tribe. If we can integrate into our lives today this sacred wisdom from our wise, elder sisters, we can transform PMS from being a time of Pathetic Miserable Suffering into a time of Powerfully Manifesting the Sacred.
